What Is The Montessori Method?
When you send your child to a child care center, you want to make sure that you are sending them to a place where they will be safe, but also a place where your child can grow and thrive. One way to do that is to find a school that utilizes the Montessori method. You may not be familiar with the Montessori method so you might not know why this option might be good for your child.

This educational philosophy was created by an Italian doctor who was also an educator, Maria Montessori. It is a child-led educational experience. The theory behind the method is that children are naturally inquisitive and thirsty for knowledge. The goal of this method is to give children a safe and supportive space for them to explore and learn. There are a number of activities that a child can do and things that can help them with developing an interest in something. There are several things that go into making a Montessori school work.
Multi-Aged Classrooms
One thing that is a feature of Montessori schools is classrooms that will have a range of ages of children. This doesn't mean that toddlers are being put into classrooms with tweens, but one classroom may have children from toddler age to kindergarten age. Another class may have kids that are in the 1st-3rd grade age range. The goal behind having kids of different ages is that the younger kids are going to be able to model their learning and behavior on what they are seeing the older kids doing. The older kids are going to be able to help the younger kids learn, which will reinforce what the older child has already learned.
Longer Work Periods
The kids are going to have a longer time to work on what they are doing. Interrupting the child from one activity and moving them to another thing can make it harder for children to settle back down and into the new activity. Having a longer time where the child can work on what they are doing will lead to the child spending time on what they want, getting deeper into their activity, and learning better.
